Don’t you just love it, I mean some people hate it, but I think it’s magical! It just gives me this crisp clean warm fuzzy feeling! Yesterday we had our first official snowfall, here in beautiful New Brunswick and we have a decent blanket down now, covering everything! It just beautiful!
I love winter, and all the activities it gives us, and makes me think of people in warmer climates that have possibly never experienced the joy of sliding down a hill on a piece of plastic, and slamming into snow banks at the bottom! I’m 36 and I still love to go sliding, always have always will! I try my hand every year in my skates and head out to my parents back yard next door, where they flood a rink for the grandkids and neighbourhood kids! I don’t think there’s been a year that they haven’t flooded that rink since I was a little kid! Every night I get home from work the kids are laced up and night skating under the flood lights! Some nights my dad will make a fire and they’ll get warm and roast some marshmallows! It brings us all so much happiness!

Snow also brings us snowshoeing, it’s a workout for an activity! On a warm winters day, with some snow pants and a cozy sweater on, just walking though the woods, listening to the noise of the snowshoes crunching though the snow, as the RufusTheBlackLab bounces around and rips through the trees! We love it! We also love skiing, something I’ve done with my family since I was 7! We have some ski hills close by -ish, so we make it up there a couple times a year, but we usually travel every March break to North Conway, New Hampshire, to eat sleep ski and we do a little shopping! This will be our first year that we aren’t all going, so we will try and get up to our local hills a few extra times!
Christmas isn’t the same here without the expected snowfall, and last year we had a green Christmas, so we’re hoping this snowfall lasts so it can stick around for Christmas! Last year when I asked my then 6 year old how her Christmas was, she said ‘it was okaayyy’, and my heart broke for a second and I said ‘what do you mean?’, she replied with ‘I just wish there was snow’… girl I feel you! It just isn’t the same!

I decided to write about snow today, while I sip my coffee and stare out the window at the magical scene of white galore, hanging off the branches and happy footprints dancing in the snow!
I hope you all have a wonderful pre-Christmas week, with everything you celebrate! Remember not to stress, it’s just a day, it might be an important one, but still just a day, and next year those items, you rushed for will still be there, sitting in there spaces, but we can’t always expect the same with our loved ones, so cherish that time you get with your family and friends! If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s to expect the unexpected!
Thanks for stopping by!
